Ég skrifaði:The trick when buying a LCD monitor for graphics use is to not get a monitor that uses a TN-panel.
There are in general four different types of LCD-panels:
    * TN - which is normally found in cheaper 17-19" monitors.
    * MVA - has better color, black level, and viewing angle than TN-type monitors but inferior response rate.
    * PVA - similar to MVA but developed by a different company (Samsung) and is generally considered to be better than MVA
    * IPS - seems to be the norm for most 20"+ LCD-monitors. IPS-panels are normally considered to have the highest quality colors but do have inferior black-level compared to MVA/PVA type panels. Eizo, Apple, Lacie, etc. use IPS panels for their high-end monitors (in fact, normally a recent variation of IPS called S-IPS which has better response rate).
In nutshell you want to avoid LCD monitors that have TN-panels and especially those that have a 6-bit panels (normally advertised as having 16.2 or 16 million colors as opposed to 16.7 million colors for 8 bit panels). If possible you should purchase a S-IPS monitor but PVA and MVA monitors may also be fine, depending on the subtype of the panel (especially PVA IMHO).
Note also that not all panels are created equal even if they use the same type of panel. Some monitors do, for example, feature 10 bit gamma correction which yields more accurate colors and and so on.
Prad.de is the premier LCD-site that I know of on the Internet but unfortunately most of the site is in German. However,
the part I find most useful is easy to understand even if you don't read German, the feature to look up different LCD-monitors and see what kind of panel they use.

Eizo eru bestir í LCD-skjám en svo er nýi 10-bita Lacie skjárinn ágætur líka (Þeir eru of dýrir fyrir þig samt). Fyrirtæki eins og Apple, Iiyama o.fl. búa líka til nothæfa LCD-skjái fyrir grafíkvinnslu.
Standard ódýru LCD-skjáirnir í Evrópu sem eru nothæfir fyrir grafíkvinnslu eru svo Belinea 101751 (17") og Belinea 101920 (19"). Þetta eru PVA-skjáir. Iiyama (og Eizo?) selja líka 19" S-IPS skjái í Evrópu en þú mátt finna þá sjálfur á prad.de staðnum sbr. linkinn í quote-inu.
Ok?
