Samantekið: iTunes server,FTP og UPnP media Server, Multimedia stöð, BitTorrent niðurhal o.s.frv. Viftulaust, hljóðlát, orkusparandi. Svona til að gera langt mál stutt þá gerir þessi hýsing nánast allt nema færa manni morgunmatinn í rúmið.

Það sem fylgir með: CD með uppsetningarforriti, Earthnet kapall, spennubreytir, rafmagnssnúra og skrúfur.
Samsetning
Það tók innan við hálfa klukkustund að koma harðdisknum fyrir í hýsingunni, formata hann og setja upp þau forrit sem þarf til þess að koma honum af stað. Skrúfurnar fylgja með í poka þannig ekki þarf að eyða tíma í að byrja á því að skrúfa hýsinguna í sundur og síðan setja saman. Hægt að taka þetta allt í sundur með einu handtaki, smella harðdisknum í og skrúfa svo saman. Mjög þægilegt og einfalt. Tengja við rafmagn og tengja við router með Earthnet snúru.
Uppsetning á hugbúnaði

Ég ætla ekki að setja inn fleiri myndir af uppsetningu. Trúið mér, þetta er svo einfalt að kalla má leiðbeiningarnar, QNAP TS-100 uppsetning for dummies.
QGet er forritið sem fylgir með og er mjög einfalt í notkun, en það er notað til þess m.a. að stjórna BitTorrent og öðru niðurhali. Með þessu forriti fer fram dagleg stjórnun á QNAP. Hægt er að setja það upp á hvaða vél, eða vélum sem eru á heimilisnetinu og stjórna QNAP TS-100 í gegnum það. Hægt er m.a að stjórna hraða á niðurhali, hraða á deilingu og hversu lengi á að deila ákveðnum skrám. Einnig er hægt að framkvæma allar skipanir og stjórnanir í gegnum Internet Explorer.

Samantekt
QNAP TS-100, er einstaklega orkusparandi og hljóðlátur heimilis server. Ótrúlega fjölhæf lausn í litlum umbúðum. Hægt er að sækja, geyma gögn á öruggan og þægilegan máta, þeim er síðan hægt að deila með öðrum notendum á heimilinu, eða hverjum sem er.
QNAP TS-100 er hægt að staðsetja hvar sem er svo lengi sem hann kemst í netsamband og rafmagn. Hvort sem það er inn í skáp, út í bílskúr eða í geymslunni.
QNAP TS-100 er búinn að koma í stað gamla heimilis serversins á mínu heimili. Hann hefur ekki slegið feilspor þær 2 vikur sem hann hefur verið í gangi og þjónað tilgangi sínum með stakri prýði. Séð um torrent, og annað niðurhal, og deilingu tónlistar og myndefnis á aðrar tölvur heimilisins. QNAP TS-100 gefur einnig fullt af öðrum möguleikum sem ekki hafa verið enn nýttir. Möguleika á borð við Raid-1 backup þjónn, prentþjónn og síðast en ekki síst vefþjónn sem keyrir PHP og SQlite.
QNAP TS-100 er þeim takmörkunum háð að rúma einungis einn harðdisk. Samkvæmt QNAP.com þá þolir hann stærst 750GB disk, en mig grunar að 1Tb diskur ætti að ganga því í þessu prófi var settur WD Raptor 36GB 10000 rpm. Það var gert til þess að athuga hvort það myndi valda vandræðum. Slíkir diskar framleiða meiri hita en flestir harðdiskar og reyna því vel á kæligetu QNAP TS-100. Slíkur diskur er heldur ekki gefin upp sem einn af þeim diskum sem QNAP TS-100 á að styðja. Þetta olli engum vandræðum fyrir QNAP TS-100.
Það þarf þó ekki að örvænta því QNAP framleiðir einnig aðrar gerðir sem rúma fleiri harðdiska. T.d. QNAP TS-209 sem rúmar tvo diska.
